Dower Cottage is a large country house in a quiet country lane just below The South Downs Way. It is in an ideal position for walking, horse riding. mountain biking and many other leisure pursuits.
All the bedrooms have lovely views over the gardens and paddock, and most look out onto The Sussex Weald. They all have colour televisions and hairdryers. There is also a library for guests and you are more than welcome to browse through the books at your leisure.
Breakfast is cooked on our 4 oven Aga and is taken in our dining room overlooking the garden. If you're lucky, our wild birds and squirrels might entertain you during breakfast.
We are only 15mins from Brighton and 35mins from Gatwick Airport. the port of Newhaven in 35mins away and Heathrow Airport and The Channel Tunnel are 1hr 30mins via the M25 (depending on traffic of course).
Clayton itself is a very tiny hamlet but it does have a 13th century church that is well worth a visit as there are some very old wall paintings that have been uncovered. Clayton Tunnel is another attraction as there is a Victorian folly in the shape of a Tudor fortress and is actually occupied! Our other claims to fame are the very famous Jack and Jill windmills that have featured in quite a few films.
We also have two self catering cottages.
