Dalwhinnie Bed and Breakfast is a modern waterside home with ensuite facilities, situated in the beautiful village of North Queensferry. We are on the shore of the Firth of Forth; looking towards Edinburgh and the Lothians, Fife and onwards to the North Sea.
From our lounge and outside deck you can watch sailing boats and ships pass by. During the summer there are a number of Ocean Cruisers that sail by or lay anchor in the Firth. We have seen at one time or another the Princess Line cruise ships, other liners and the magnificent Queen Mary 2.
It's a great place to birdwatch, if you're lucky you'll see puffins, skuas, fulmars, or megansers and wee families of ducks,
Or you can just sit and chill.
North Queensferry dates back to before 1046; when the Abbot of Dunfermline awarded a charter to the village to ferry Queen Margaret across the Forth on her way to Edinburgh via St. Edward's Bay. The village is a charming place to stroll about; there's the ruin of St. James' Chapel which is designated as an Ancient Monument. Take a stroll down The Old Town Pier where the Ferry Boats used to sail from St. James' Harbour.
No one can possibly miss the Forth Rail Bridge that commands the view of all, completed in 1890 it is often described as the Eighth Wonder of the World.
