Tantallon House bed and breakfast accommodation is located on the border of Cumbria and Northumberland, overlooking the longest unbroken stretch of Hadrian's Wall.
We offer a peaceful getaway spot and an ideal gateway to the many places of interest in this area. Our spacious Victorian country property stands on a hill overlooking the Irthing Valley, on the edge of the Northumberland National Park.
Our three south-facing rooms are comfortable, light and spacious, with spectacular views.
All of our rooms have secure Wifi wireless Internet access for your laptop, so you can stay connected if you need to. We also provide Freeview in the rooms to help you unwind by watching a film and stay up to date with the latest news channels.
We have beautiful gardens to relax in, as well as a full size snooker table ready for guests to use.
As a family-run business in a rural community, we aim to run our bed and breakfast accommodation in an environmentally friendly way, thereby promoting sustainable tourism. We are currently working towards some of the initiatives promoted by the Green Tourism Business Scheme. This includes everyday energy reduction and the encouragement of local wildlife.
We purchase local produce, where possible, to support the region's farmers, as this in turn maintains the agricultural character of the area and improves our environment. Local products generally include Cumberland sausages, bacon, free-range farm eggs, honey and fruit preserves.
We inherited a permanent resident when we bought Tantallon House: a strikingly beautiful owl. As Hoot is unable to survive in the wild, he lives in an aviary and we supply him with natural food and a bit of company. He has proved a very popular attraction with all our guests, and also attracts other owls who visit him at night. He has an impressive wing span and can be viewed very closely.
