Thanet House was built in 1884 as part of the Alum Chine Estate.
Originally the mill owner's family home, it stood on open heath land; the mill no longer remains, but the beautiful woodland chine has been preserved and laid with footpaths,

Directions
Take the M25, then the M3, M27 and A31 to Ringwood. From London and the North:
Follow the A338 becoming A35 to Bournemouth.
At junction with B3065 (Liverpool Victoria gyratory) take second exit B3065 The Avenue.
Take first left (at traffic lights) onto Western Road.
Take first right (at roundabout) onto Alumhurst Road.
Drury Road is second on the left.
From the West:
Head for Poole on the A35. Follow above directions from B3065.
