The Old Vicarage House [C1700] offers bed and breakfast accommodation of character, with all the charm of its period; interesting rooms with a wealth of old timbers and stone inglenooks.

Set on the village edge, having lovely views, and terraced gardens with covered barbecue, the house has a boot/drying room and grazing paddocks, as well as parking for cars , trailers, or horse boxes, all within the curtilage.

There is also a block built outdoor kennel with secure runs.

Evening meals and packed lunches are available by prior arrangement.

Hosts Jenny and Keith Butler, take great care to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay for all their guests, whether they are walking, cycling, riding, driving, or simply enjoying the hidden haunts, hills, valleys, and quiet lanes, of this little-known part of Mid Wales.

Local Area

Llangunllo, on the edge of the Radnor Forest Special Landscape Area, is a small, unspoiled village where red kites fly, nestled peacefully in the wooded upper reaches of the Lugg valley, only 5 miles from the source on Beacon hill. The name is derived from it's small, but beautiful St. Cynllo's Church. This is the secretive, ancient county of Radnorshire, which being about 7 miles from England, and with it's own distinctive old dialect is neither Welsh nor English, but proudly Border.

The immediate locality offers a wide range of activities in this tranquil and lovely area: the Bleddfa Arts Centre is close, Glyndwr's Way long distance footpath passes through the village, Cycle Route 25 passes close by, as does the Radnorshire Horse Ride, and Radnor Forest is within walking distance.

The Phil Price Rally School and Griffin-Lloyd Shooting Ground are available for the more adventurous, but not close enough to spoil the peaceful surroundings.

The Heart of Wales Railway [station just over one mile from the House!] offers the opportunity to arrive by rail, a walk [or cycle] and ride service, and a wonderfully scenic trip to Swansea or Shrewsbury. Your hosts will always arrange pick-ups from the station or other pre-arranged points.

We are also within easy driving distance of: Hay on Wye, for the renowned Book festival , Presteigne, Builth Wells for the Royal Show, Rhayader and the Elan Valley, Machynlleth, Aberystwyth, Ludlow, Hereford and Shrewsbury.
