Fishponds provides a comfortable double room (shower en-suite) overlooking the garden in a peaceful location on the outskirts of Butleigh village.
Fishponds started life as the fish-keeper's cottage on Butleigh Court Estate, where trout were reared for local consumption in the 19th century, and were used in the initial stocking of Blagdon Lake in 1905; the ponds now provide a focus for the garden.
We are ideally situated for touring in the heart of Somerset and also convenient for the Bath and West Showground and Millfield School.
We are centrally placed for Bath, Wells, Glastonbury and Sherborne, which all provide opportunities for shopping as well as visiting the historic sites.
Those looking for a bargain will be keen to visit Clark's Village in Street where there are many factory shops offering a range of goods from clothing to glassware and crockery.
There are some beautiful National Trust properties to visit including Stourhead, Montacute, Lytes Cary, and Barrington Court and Tintinhull gardens.
Day trips to Exmoor, the Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels give the opportunity for long or short walks, and viewing the local wildlife, followed by a relaxing meal in one of Somerset's country inns.
Local golf courses at Wheathill, Long Sutton, Wells, Mendip and Yeovil.
For those of a more mechanical bent, the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, and the Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford will provide interesting days out.
