At The Old Forge guests are sure of a warm welcome, a great night's sleep and a hearty breakfast.

Delicious four course evening meals and breakfasts are carefully prepared using fresh local produce, eggs from their own hens and much of the fruit and vegetables from the kitchen garden.

Nestling in the heart of the village of Bishops Tawton, near the market town of Barnstaple in North Devon, The Old Forge offers luxurious, comfortable and spacious Bed and Breakfast accommodation and optional evening meals.

Parts of the building date back to the 14th century, when it was the village blacksmith's, with further, later additions.

The owners, Julie and Ross, have lovingly restored and renovated to achieve a tasteful and comfortable blend of old features and modern convenience.

The accommodation offers king size beds, en-suite bathrooms and a cosy lounge with wood burner and a well-stocked bookcase.

Bishops Tawton was once the home of Bishops and the picturesque village church bears testament to many generations of Devonians who made their home in this tranquil corner of the Taw Valley.

There are walks by the river Taw or in stunning Exmoor (15 minutes by car) or great cycling along the Tarka Trail.

For surfers, the fabulous beaches of Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe are all in easy reach by car and for golfers there is a wide choice of local and championship courses, such as the links course at Saunton Sands.

The historic market town of Barnstaple is a five minute drive, offering shopping, restaurants, theatre and cinema.

The market and Butchers Row is a must for all foodies.

The Old Forge is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the peaceful scenery or use as a base to explore the many and varied attractions that North Devon has to offer.
