Leave M6 at junction 43 on to Warwick Road: Going past Tesco and Carlisle United Football club, at the lights with large Church in front, turn right into Victoria Place, passing college and lights. Turn right into Georgian way at the roundabout, then turn left into Castle Way, keep in right hand lane at next roundabout, take right hand fork, passing McVities factory onto Port/Newtown Road. Continue past Hospital and up slight hill, then on going down the other side into a dip, look for a phone box at right turn before going up hill again. Signs for Burgh by Sands and Bowness on Solway, turn right here. Stay on this road without turning off for about 15 miles, until you reach Port Carlisle. Hesket House is 3rd house after the Hope and Anchor Pub on left opposite children's play area. |
